treasure

well my dear ones,

At lunchtime today,

I was walking back to my Harley

which was parked next to a van.

I watched the driver get out,

come around to the passenger side door,

open it,

and stand there expectantly.

He gave his wife a hand as she got out,

then he held on to her

as he helped her across the parking lot.

I was watching the man’s face

and the whole time he was holding on to his wife

he had this look about him,

a look as if he was holding on

to the greatest treasure on earth.

(Isn’t that what we’d all like to have?

To have someone look at us

like we are their greatest treasure?)

I was struck by the sweetness of it;

and I was thinking,

“now that’s real love.”

Each morning, before I leave for work,

I give my wife a hug and a kiss

and tell her I love her.

That way, no matter what happens,

she’ll know that she is loved and treasured.

Is there someone in your life you care about?

Someone you treasure?

When was the last time you let them know?

Why not lift them up?

Spread a little love and improve the world.

Have a great week!

grace, peace, and love to you,

dave

Happy Valentine’s Day

well my dear ones,

I was talking with a friend of mine this morning

and she was telling me how ticked she was

that her husband hadn’t wished her

a Happy Valentine’s Day yet,

even though she had already given him

a card and a box of chocolates.

I told her to give him a chance,

that her hub was likely spending his lunch hour

out trying to find her a special gift.

The point is, people are touchy about

Valentine’s Day.

There are a lot of societal pressures

pushing us to get something special

for the special someone in our life

on this particular day of the year.

Yet even putting all that aside,

I think everyone just wants to be able

to know that they are loved.

Right before he passed on

one of the last things my uncle taught me

was, “God loves each one of us

more than we can ever possibly believe.”

So, you are loved,

and I want to wish you a

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Have a great week.

grace, peace, and love to you,

dave
